Really V V

Second color layer done.

I'm liking it better.

Here's some closer looks.

Next row will be whites.

V V

Here's progress on the inner layer.

And here are some closer looks.

This is the end of the hot pink.

Here's the start of the green/blue.

And here's farther down.

Not sure of the joins between the colors. I may have to add something there later.

Scarf Distraction

I got seduced. These aren't blocked.

These are both from the same pattern, both snake scarves, both knit on size 15 needles.

The first one is made from a magic ball and a fuzzy yarn. Here's the difference between the two sides.

And here's the transition point.

The other one is from a carry-along yarn and a thin yarn with fuzzy bits.

Okay, time to go back to the main piece. But these were fun.

V for . . . Something

Almost done with the outer row.

Here's the schematic.

Dark yellow is done, light yellow is half-done (one triangle), blue is where I am now.

Confession time: I didn't realize that the first color would be the entire border. I thought it would go through the middle somehow, based on the log cabin-type pattern. I just didn't think it through, or look at my earlier one close enough. If I had, I might have picked a different color to start with.

I'm not displeased, mind you. Just surprised.

Here's the colorway.

I am going to be out of bright pinks when I finish. Oh, no, yarn shopping? What a penalty.

Here are some closer looks.

New Start

Started the new one, but it has been cloudy, so I've missed some pictures of the progress. Here is the first one, showing I'm well along.

It's going to be another log cabin type shawl, but this time in a triangle. Here's my schematic.

(I'm on the blue square.) I'll take a picture of the colorway to post soon.

Here are some closer looks of the current piece.

And I did another frou-frou scarf.

Here is a closer look at the feathery yarn.

So, all sorts of fun.

Interlude

Since I was between major pieces, I've been playing.

This is a wonderful frivolous scarf out of some new Colinette. It's a simple zigzag pattern.

I love the colors, but I couldn't imagine it as a larger piece. As a dash of color, though, it's a lot of fun.

My friend Sandy came over to help put together colorways, but it was a gloomy day, so you'll have to wait until I knit from what she put together for me. However, we did create Scarf Land (think Graceland) for all the small groups of yarns that went together but didn't end up in larger groups.

These are going to make some great scarves!

The other thing I've done is organize all my bits and pieces into magic balls. I did it a bit differently this time, making single strand balls with the colors shading into each other, and then combining those single strands in twos and threes to make the final magic balls.

Now all I have to do is knit!

2011 #8 Firecracker

Finished on the 4th of July!

The neon blue doesn't show up very well here (effect of the slanted morning light, I think), but it does in some of the detailed looks. That's a yardstick, to show the size.

Not quite like I'd hoped -- I was thinking the blues would look deep lovely blue, but they look a little grey and dark.

Still, not so bad, and certainly large and comfy!

Oooh! Ahhhh!

Getting closer to the finale.

A bit patriotic, if you spot me the pink.

Here are some close-ups, in case you need knitting wallpaper.

And here is some of my other fun this weekend.

So full of promise, and some of them are yelling at me, "I NEED to be a scarf!"
