Moving Towards Fireworks

It grows apace.

This is one that looks better in real life than in the pics.

And here's a close-up of the latest bit, with butterfly shapes.

Again, it's clearer in real life. Sorry!

New Summery Project

I've started another one, meant to be quick and summery in colors.

It's going to be triangular, and I started at the top middle with a section of Daisy Stitch. To make it grow, I added a stitch on each side on each row, so that each row began and ended with knit-front-and-back in the stitch. By growing two stitches before starting the next color, you get the nice corner effect of starting with one daisy, then two in the next row, then three, etc.

Here's a slightly closer look.

Then I bound off along the top with a frilly yarn, and picked up on each side of the triangle to being the body of the shawl.

By the way, here's the colorway I'm using.

2011 #7 Sound Barrier

.
Finally done!

As usual, that's a yardstick in the corner. This is one of the larger ones (and to think I was worried when I started that it would be too little or too short).

I think this may be the best one I've ever made.

Here are some closer looks.

And the middle.

The fact that the rectangles are uneven doesn't come out dramatically, which means the lines don't curve all that much, but I'm still very pleased, and I think the slight lack of symmetry adds interest nonetheless.

By the way, here's a peek at my floor while blocking this --this one took so long, I had a lot of scarves that I blocked at the same time.

And remember the yarn I began with?

Here's what's left.

(The bag holds the bits and pieces that will eventually become magic balls.)

Definitely Edgy

I'm still working on the edging.

Here is a closer look.

The edging is two rows of garter, one with a pompom type yarn, and now I'm working on sideways 8-stitch garter, alternating two colors and changing them out every so often.

I always worry about the corners when doing sideways rows, because as you work your way around, it won't match when you finally join it up.

I solved the issue in this instance by changing both yarns at the point of each corner, so none of them match.

I'll end off by a row or two of crochet.

This one has taken a long time for me, ever since the end of April. I'm ready to move on, but it's been fun.

The Body On The Floor

(Maybe I've been reading mysteries....)

Here is the center, all done!

Not too bad!

Here are some closer looks at the right side.

Now that I see it, I sort of wish I'd started to reverse the colors on the right, so it shaded in the other direction, but I don't think I'd have known without seeing this one first.

I wasn't sure what to do as a border, but I think it needs something simpler than what I had been envisioning, which was uneven triangles or little squares.

I am now thinking of a simple border, but in two directions. Ah, misdirection! Another hallmark of mysteries.....

Sneaking Up On The End

Not too much left to do.

Here are some closer looks.

I still like it, although the patterns seem clearer in the pictures than in real life.

I have no idea what I'm going to do for the edging yet, though. Can't wait to find out!
